Actual conversation overheard yesterday at the Starbucks "booth" at work between hospital-employed barista who wanted nothing more than to go home as it was 4:57 p.m. on a Friday, and idling, indecisive customer:
(Barista): "Yes ma'am. What can I get for you?"
(Customer): "Hmmm. I don't know. Hmmm. I can never make up my mind on coffee..."
"Can I suggest anything for you, maybe?"
"Hmmmm. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm."
(several seconds of exasperated silence)
"Ma'am?"
"Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm."
(several more seconds of silence and impatient looks)
"Would you like a few more minutes to decide, ma'am?"
"No. Hmmmmmmm." (reads sign on counter) "Toffee Nut Latte... hmmm. What's that like?"
"Well, ma'am, it's like a latte... that's flavored with toffee nut."
"Really. Wow."
